Hornby Class 2721 Steam & Class 08 Diesel Locomotive with Freight Cars Digital Starter Set – R1236 is a complete OO gauge digital starter set designed to provide an introduction to digital model railway control.

The set includes two locomotives: a Class 2721 0-6-0PT steam locomotive in GWR green and a Class 08 diesel shunting locomotive in BR red. Both locomotives are factory-fitted with 8-pin digital decoders and can be controlled independently using the supplied Hornby Select DCC digital controller.

Four four-wheeled freight wagons are included, along with a third-radius starter track oval, Track Pack A, transformer, Hornby Midimat and rerailing aid.

The supplied Select controller allows you to control both locomotives independently on the same track. The set also introduces advanced digital operation such as double-heading and improved slow-speed control for shunting.

With its combination of steam and diesel traction, freight rolling stock and digital control, this is an excellent introduction to OO gauge railway modelling for beginners while also offering plenty of scope for expanding an existing layout.
